Hi procp002 – sorry I am probably not best qualified to answer this one (see my earlier reply about jumping) as my speciality area is the mind/brain, rather than the body. Mark knows a lot more about nutrition than me.
As with any sport, a meal with a carbohydrate basis is the best thing to eat before exercise. That the exercise in question involves only the arms is not actually relevant, because the nutrients will be carried in the blood stream to wherever they are required. Provided you’ve topped up your glycogen stores before exercise (muscle and liver glycogen). Glycogen is the stored version of glucose.
