I personally try to eat about 90 minutes before a run or workout as I find that this lets my food go down.
The kind of food I eat depends mostly on the time of day, but I eat pretty much the same most days.

Breakfast is either brown bread with a couple of eggs, or weetabix and bananas.
Lunch I will have turkey, chicken or tuna with veg/salad or stirfry (I work at home mostly so I can cook my lunch)
Dinner is usually something similar to lunch.
As snacks I have nuts and fruit, and at least 2 liters water. I dont have energy drinks as I find I eat enough for the energy levels I need to either box, run or do weights in the gym.

I don’t compete at sports, I just do it for my health, so probably if I was competing I would need to think more carefully about my energy and fluid intake before during and after competitions.

In the morning it would be a breakfast cereal such as Weetabix, or a sandwich at lunch time. I usually need about 3 hours after eating before I can run, so sometimes in the morning I’ll run before breakfast.
