There are 2 types of steroids: cortico steroiod and anabolic steroids and both have medical uses:

Corticosteroids are a synthetic version of cortisone which is a natural hormone. In the body cortisone is used to heal inflammation after an injury. Both natural cortisone, corticosteroids work with the immune system to repair damaged cells and tissues within the body. Corticosteriods are used to treat allergies, arthritis, asthma, and other conditions where there might be inflammation.

Anabolic steroids are an articifical form of the male sex hormones, like testosterone, and are used by bodybuilders and other athletes to build muscle mass. However, they are also used medically, for instance, when someone has lost a lot of weight from illnesses like cancer or HIV.

So, I agree that steroids have a medical function that is really helpful to people with all sorts of problems. But I do not agree that athletes use anabolic steroids to ‘cheat’ their way to a bigger body. With the right nutrition and training they can still get their body in peak shape for their size, and its not fair on other people.

Plus anabolic steroids might make their muscles bigger, but it makes other parts shrink (you probably know which parts I mean!)
