I think that’s pretty unlikely, although I’m not going to say a definite ‘No’ otherwise I’ll look really silly if it does happen! We have a vast amount of both normal and radio telescopes monitoring the sky for any potential problems. About 30 years ago it was confirmed that a large meteor hitting the planet was the reason why the dinosaurs were wiped out (apart from the ones in Jurassic Park of course!!). Ever since then millions of pounds has been spent on monitoring the thousands of meteors hurtling around in space to try and predict when and if one will hit us. But don’t worry, even if we do see one coming we’ll just send Bruce Willis up to blow it to pieces!!

It’s possible but very very unlikely.

There are solid bodies out there in space moving so quickly we’re unlikely to see them until they’re very close, but they’d have to be travelling in a very specific direction to hit us. The probability of it happening are even lower than me hitting bullseye on a dartboard… and I’m really bad at darts!

I really hope not as I have just paid for a holiday in 47 days time – massive waste of money!
