• Question: Is sugar bad for people who do a lot of sports?

      No, it is actually good for you if you do sport. The body prefers to use glucose to supply energy to the muscles, and so sugar is a useful thing to eat. However, like all sugar there are downsides – there have been studies that show endurance athletes may be at greater risk of tooth decay because of all the energy drinks they use.

      Prett sure you can combat the toothdecay by eating complex Carbohydrates like those found in bananas and weetabix. The body slowly breaks these down into glucose, giving much more regular energy release.

      If you’re really short on energy though, glucose tablets can give you a great burst of energy that can last long enough to help you go that little bit further…

      Sugars are carbohydrates and an essential source of energy for every living thing. There are several types of sugar:
      Lactose – found in milk
      Sucrose – found in cane sugar (the one we put in our tea or coffee)
      Fructose – found in fruits
      Maltose – which is used to brew beer
