• Question: What is the fastest speed anyone has run on the moon?

      It’s much, much harder to run on the moon because of the big bulky space suits they have to wear – I saw one at the National Space Centre in Leicester last month and it was basically a huge suitcase with arm and leg holes – so I don’t think anyone ran on the moon. They just bounced.

      No records for running have been set on the Moon. This is because it is not possible to run on the Moon! You see, running involves an aerial phase (both feet off the ground), but the problem with trying to do this with only 1/6 the gravity of earth is that you’d fall over if you tried to run normally!

      Mark, Is that why the moonwalk is called the moonwalk, because the feet slide along and don’t break contact with the ground?
