Tendons are the parts of our bodies that connect our muscles to our bones. They have to be very strong to transmit the huge forces our muscles generate (or not if you’re a weakling like me!), but they also have to absorb some energy, a bit like the brakes in a car, so that the muscles don’t rip themselves off the bone.
