0 Question: Why are trees tall? Keywords: height, plant, tall, tree Asked by redbow to Helen, Jenni, Mark, Martin, Stu on 14 Jun 2011.
Jenni Tilley answered on 14 Jun 2011:
They grow up to reach the sunlight. Did you know that for most trees, their root structure is as big as the rest of the tree above ground?!
Helen O'Connor answered on 14 Jun 2011:
I don’t know why some trees grow taller than others – like a giant redwood. But I do know that if you prune a sapling tree when it is growing, you can make it into a bonsai tree, which is really small.
