• Question: Why does it hurt when hit in the genitalia

      Its not my main area (I am more interested in the mind, at the other end of the body!)
      But, testicles have a huge amount of nerve endings in them, which is one reasons why they are so sensitive to pain.
      Also, from an evolutionary perspective, it would make sense that this area is very sensitive to pain, because sperm is produced there the testicles are essential for the species to survive – so the body has evolved to make sure that we protect this area. It’s a shame that the testicles need to be outside the body because the temperature inside the body is too warm to produce sperm – otherwise they would be more protected, like female reproductive organs. Sorry boys!
